Two Pathways. One Legacy Year.

Each year, the Foundation selects one Legacy Education Scholar and one Legacy Entrepreneur Fellow. Both receive financial investment and enter the same 12-month Legacy Year — because the money opens the door, but the relationship is the heart of the program.

Our Story

In Loving Memory of Shaun Duvall

A life defined by faith, love, and quiet service to others.

Shaun's life is our why. Investing in the next generation of servant leaders is what comes next.

Shaun's Story

Shaun Duvall was a servant leader — not because of a title, but because of how he lived. As a devoted husband, father, friend, and business owner, he showed up for people. He listened before he led. He wanted to know someone's story and their why, noticed potential in people others overlooked, loved championing the underdog, and was energized by helping someone receive an opportunity they might not otherwise have had.

If Shaun could help, he did. If he couldn't, he tried to connect that person with someone who could. Whether he was in a business meeting, sharing a meal, or mentoring someone, Shaun consistently pointed things back to God — praying with people and over people, wanting God, not himself, to receive the glory.

On Easter Sunday, 2026, Shaun went home to be with the Lord. It was a loss that shook everyone who knew and loved him — and it is not where his story ends. This Foundation exists to carry what he lived forward, into the lives of the young leaders who come next.

Scriptural Foundation

Romans 5:3–5 has long been a family verse, and it now provides a meaningful framework for the Foundation: difficult circumstances do not have to have the final word. God can work through suffering to produce perseverance, character, and hope. 2 Corinthians 1:4 adds another dimension — the comfort we receive in suffering can equip us to comfort and serve others.

The Foundation will not be defined by how Shaun died. It will tell people how Shaun lived — and demonstrate that profound loss can be turned outward into hope, service, relationship, and opportunity.

Founder & President

Cascea founded the Shaun Duvall Legacy Foundation with a simple hope: that the way Shaun loved, served, led, and invested in people would not end with his life, but be a positive lasting impact through the lives of others.

An entrepreneur and business owner for more than two decades, Cascea has spent much of her career leading, mentoring, and helping others grow. Her faith and life experiences have shaped a deep belief that relationships matter more than numbers and that one intentional investment in a person can create an impact far beyond what we may ever see.

As Founder and President, Cascea is committed to carrying that vision forward by investing in young servant leaders and entrepreneurs, challenging them to do the same for someone else.

Carrie helped establish the Shaun Duvall Legacy Foundation with a deeply personal purpose: to honor her brother Shaun by continuing the legacy of faith, kindness, generosity, and servant leadership that defined his life. As Shaun's sister, Carrie had the privilege of seeing firsthand the way he loved people, believed in others, and used his life and his success to make a difference. Shaun never measured his impact simply by what he accomplished, but by the lives he touched and the people he helped become better, stronger, and more confident in their own purpose.

Carrie brings her own passion for serving others, along with a career dedicated to caring for and advocating for people. Her faith in Jesus and her love for her brother inspire her commitment to ensuring Shaun's legacy continues to reach others.

As Founding Director and Vice President, Carrie is committed to keeping Shaun's story alive — not simply by remembering who he was, but by living out what he believed: that we are called to love others well, serve selflessly, invest in people, and leave the world better than we found it.

Founding Director

As a dear friend and brother in Christ to Shaun, Dan deeply understands and embraces the significance of establishing the Shaun Duvall Legacy Foundation. As a Founding Director, he is passionate about advancing the Foundation's mission to make a lasting impact through community and selfless acts of service that create meaningful opportunities for others.

Professionally, Dan brings more than 30 years of experience in technology, executive leadership, consulting, and organizational development across both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. He currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at Moneta and as an Adjunct Professor in the Master of Engineering program at Washington University in St. Louis. Throughout his career, Dan has held numerous consulting and advisory roles and has founded two companies.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dan's relationship with Shaun was rooted in a deep friendship, shared faith, and a genuine commitment to serving others. It is this personal connection, combined with his professional experience and passion for making a difference, that makes Dan honored to serve as a Founding Director of the Shaun Duvall Legacy Foundation.

The Shaun Duvall Legacy Scholars Program

Two paths. One Legacy Year. One purpose. Each year, the Foundation intends to select two emerging leaders — one Legacy Education Scholar and one Legacy Entrepreneur Fellow. Both receive financial investment and enter the same 12-month Legacy Year together. The money opens the door; the relational investment is the heart of the program.

Legacy Education Scholar

Open to graduating high school seniors through students entering their senior year of college, pursuing an approved postsecondary path: college, community college, trade or technical school, apprenticeship, certification, or another legitimate career-training pathway.

Legacy Entrepreneur Fellow

An emerging entrepreneur under 30 with a defined business concept, written business plan, and meaningful early steps toward launch — beyond the idea stage, but still early enough for Foundation investment to matter.

Both paths are open to applicants who live within the Foundation's local service area, initially envisioned as roughly a 45-minute drivable radius. The Foundation is openly Christian; recipients are not required to identify as Christian.

Receiving an award is the beginning, not the conclusion. Each Scholar and Fellow commits to a year built around relationship, growth, service, and multiplication.

Each recipient is paired with experienced leaders who bring different perspectives, experiences, and strengths. Mentors are encouraged to lead authentic conversations based on the recipient's goals, challenges, interests, and stage of development.

Initiating Your Own Legacy Conversations

We believe leadership development shouldn't happen only through relationships arranged for you. Throughout the Legacy Year, recipients are challenged to identify people they want to learn from, initiate meaningful conversations, ask thoughtful questions, and reflect on what they learned. The goal is to help young leaders develop the confidence and skills to build meaningful relationships and networks of their own.

Recipients aren't only connected to mentors, they learn how to build meaningful relationships for themselves.

Continued participation in required Legacy Year activities is part of the award agreement. The financial award and the Legacy Year go together — we're investing in the person, and we expect the recipient to invest their time and effort into the experience as well.
